Patricia Downey desires to follow God wherever He leads her, with one main thought in mind: "He must increase, but I must decrease" (John 3:30).
Born and reared in Granville County, North Carolina, Patricia was active in the church even in childhood. As a member of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, she sang with the young adult choir, represented her church many times at the association's Sunday School Union, and served as secretary, as needed, for the St. Matthew missionary department.
In 1986, Patricia received Christ as her Lord and Savior at the Apostolic Tabernacle of Jesus Christ. Three years later, the Lord began to reveal to her His calling to preach His Word. Soon afterwards, the Lord led her to become a member of the "Tabernacle" as it was called. Now known as Seed Time and Harvest Fellowship, pastored by Dr. M.R. Weaver, it is also where she preached her initial sermon on January 11, 1998, and was ordained on July 17, 2005.
At her church, she has diligently served in the capacities of usher, teacher, and choir member. She could also be heard, along with other associate ministers, every Sunday morning on the "Word of Life Ministry" radio broadcast on WSRC-1410AM.
Presently, she serves on one of six evangelistic teams that ministers at jails, orphanages, assisted living centers, and area hospitals. In addition, the Lord has opened doors for Patricia to proclaim His Word at numerous women's conferences, youth conferences, and revival services.
Patricia is the daughter of Catherine Downey and Bobby Thomas. She matriculated at North Carolina Central University as an accounting major, and, for more than 20 years, has been employed by Duke University.
